House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy is taking heat for saying it would be hard for him NOT to hit Speaker Nancy Pelosi with the gavel should he get the speaker’s job after the 2022 election. Democratic Representative Ilhan Omar of Minnesota says is urging her colleagues to call for McCarthy’s resignation. She says joking about “violently attacking a woman” is not funny, especially a leader in Congress.

The California Republican made the comments at a Republican Party fundraiser in Tennessee after being presented with a huge, oversized gavel. A McCarthy spokesperson said the congressman was obviously joking.
Omar famously said “Some people did something” on September 11, 2001.

The son of one of the 9/11 victims called the language “disrespectful” when referring to the 3,000 people who were killed by Al Qaeda.
Many Republicans are still amazed that Nancy Pelosi didn’t hit Trump with the gavel.
