Unrest At Columbia Gets Billionaires To Pull Funding

The owner of the New England Patriots is pulling his donations to Columbia University as pro-Palestinian protests continue.  Robert Kraft issued a statement through his organization, the Foundation to Combat Antisemitism.  He called the protests “virulent hate” and said he’s no longer confident that Columbia can protect its students and staff.  Kraft says he “never thought” he would see such hate and vitriol against Jewish people ever in the United States.   Kraft appeared on Fox News Channel’s “Hannity” to talk about his decision. He added that he still supports the Kraft Center, which “houses all aspects of Jewish life” at the university, according to the school’s website. Plus,  billionaire investor Leon Cooperman, a business school graduate, said he would stick with a stop on donations which began shortly after the October 7 Hamas massacres.  And industrialist Len Blavatnik may also consider pulling back as the campus is rocked by pro-Hamas protests which have left Jewish students traumatized. Cooperman, Blavatnik, and Kraft have donated nearly $100 million in total to Columbia, according to some estimates — money that has created multiple buildings on campus, scholarships for engineers, and a center for Jewish students.
